Dear Friends of Consciousness-Based Education,

I want to tell you about a very important vision from Maharishi for the perpetuation and expansion of Consciousness-Based Education. In over 70 publications, Maharishi described the importance of establishing a Maharishi University in Europe, and specifically in Vlodrop, the Netherlands.

Maharishi predicted publically, in several press conferences and in books, that the future of the world will be maintained in peace through students practicing Yogic Flying in universities and schools. Maharishi stated, "students will create integrated national consciousness."¹ This is because of the length of university programs, their steady routine and their ongoing population. For this reason, Maharishi requested that Consciousness-Based Universities be established in every country.² Maharishi wrote that the establishment of such a "University in every country is fundamental to the creation of an enlightened society and the establishment of Heaven on Earth."³

Maharishi placed special emphasis on the establishment of a Maharishi University in Europe, and specifically in the Netherlands. He described how the degree programs of such a European university will "reflect the degree of wholeness that the recipients have shown to be capable of expressing through their body, mind, and behavior."⁴

A complete administrative, legal, architectural, and financial plan has now been developed to establish such a European University as a branch campus of Maharishi International University.

MIU President Dr. Tony Nader expressed his full support of this project with the words, "Thank you for doing all this work to bring a Consciousness-Based University to Europe. Europe needs this. You have my full support."

Key Milestones

• Accreditation has been secured as a Netherlands branch campus of Maharishi International University in the USA.
• Permanent Facilities: Raja Alberto Castaño, Raja of MERU Construction, Maharishi Vastu architect with 40 years of experience, is the architect for this project. He has completed the architectural design for the first university building — for 108 students, with classrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, and TM-Sidhi Yogic Flying halls.
• Modular Facilities: While this first permanent university building is being constructed, the students will reside in portable buildings, also designed by Raja Alberto.
• Demonstrated Student Demand: Through data from the European Union, we have verified the student demand in Europe for university education that includes consciousness. The demand for university education is steadily increasing in Europe; and notably, several European universities are now offering degree programs and courses on consciousness. It seems clear that this is the right time for a Maharishi University in Europe.
• Independently Reviewed Financial Plan: An independent, internationally established business advisor, who is a founder of another university, has written a detailed analysis of our business plan, which confirms its feasibility.

Financial support is essential for securing the funds for the construction of the first permanent university building, and for the modular buildings that the university will use while the construction of the first permanent building is underway. The total construction cost of the first permanent building and the portable buildings for the students is 30 million euros.
